Torres or Chelsea's problem

Torres
All football managers, players and fans knows how big this guy was back then. Become the youngest captain at his former club Athletico Madrid, he then quickly grabs a place in The Kop fans and many said that he will be one of the greaters PL striker. With his first season debut with Liverpool he scored 24 goals in 33 appearance. Amazing for a new comer at the PL. A total of 214 appearance and 82 goals at Athletico, 102 appereance and 65 goals for Liverpool but somehow, a very little numbers of goals scored by this lad for Chelsea.

Since his injury at liverpool and world cup, Torres has not been much of deadly striker. But, against Chelsea while he was still a Liverpool player, he had been the most prolific scorers. Scores plenty of magnificent goals against Chelsea before he transfer to the Blues early of the season. Football pundits says that he is in a really bad form.

You don’t become a bad player overnight – cliched, but true. He will get back to his best and many says, he is getting closer to it. But, whenever we seems to see the old Torres firing the net again, there is always something wrong somewhere happens to him. With first red card of the season given to him after scoring a tremendous goal against Swansea this season, everything seems wrong for him since then. Whenever he plays, people judge him with either he score or not. But, the contribution that he gave to them team is still can be considered really good.

50 million price tag might put a huge pressure on him and he is not scoring. Sad but the case is, he is trying to do his best and we all know he is a good player whether he score or not but since he is rated 50 million, people seems to judge him with his goals.

Chelsea
This season we see a fresh atmosphere and a brand new style of football that Andre Villas Boas bring to Stamford Bridge. An entertaining football that is long wanted by Roman Abramovich. But, the numbers of win that AVB delivers is too few compared to Jose Mourinho.

Many saying that Torres is just not good enough anymore but some football experts says that its Chelsea that does not give enough service to Torres. While in Liverpool, every player in the team give full service to Torres. He is playing the lone-striker role and hundreds of passes and crosses all are focused to him. But in Chelsea, its different. All players seems want to score and with the presence of Didier Drogba, it just difficult for Torres to win 1st team place. Eventhough Drogba's peak years is behind him, the whole team seems to stick to their old style of play. When Lampard and Torres plays together, we will always see that Lampard and Torres runs into the same space, same direction and seldom plays one-two passes. This is because, Lampard is not like Steven Gerrard. Stevie G excel with services and deadly passes to strikers whenever he plays. Lampard is different, he plays as a very attack-minded player and always create the room for himselt and do forward runs. That is whay we see he scores most of his goal from the position of a striker.

Lampard is the playmaker for the Blues from years and actually, we can clearly says that he is not giving enough service to Torres. Weird but, search for stats and you will see that the most passes that Torres receive is from Juan Mata, D. Sturridge and Meireles. These players are the new first team comer for the Blues. Malouda is also almost the same is Lampard, always going for goals himself and often we saw the old generation of the Blues plays one-two passes but when played with the new generation, most probably we will see a very litle numbers of one-two passes that produce goals.

Torres vs Lampard
Lampard needs the team to be built around him to succeed. The build up is slow, direct, and allows him time to run into the box. Torres is the exact opposite, he needs space behind the defenders. The common misconception is that Torres needs a 10 delivering passes. While the service provided to him was shockingly horrific thus far, it isn't about that. Liverpool play with so much pace the team was made for Torres. In a way, Chelsea was probably the worst team he could have gone to in the EPL in terms of style. Drogba is different, he doesn't need service because his game is built around power. He creates his own space. The team the last 5 years wasn't built around Drogba, it was catered to Lampard, but Drogba was the reason the team did so well.

Torres and Lampard both do the same thing but can't play the same way. Torres needs a counter attacking style, Lampard the slow, direct build up.Lampard and Drogba have to go. Neither will go quietly. They've been treated like Gods their whole life and will soon have to face life as a normal person. No more hero worship, paychecks, girls, excitement, sense of purpose, most go broke due to stupidity. They say the most dangerous year of your life is the year right after you retire. For footballers it comes much earlier than us, and the fall is a lot farther. Roberto Di Mateo said he went into depression, not uncommon.

Torres is 27, Lampard is 33. One of these two will disappoint this season because Villas Boas will probably play them both. It's very possible that they both will if he does.Lampard have to go and if Torres continues to stink we'll have to get rid of him too. We can't continue with the same squad we'll have to move on. Players like Luka Modric is a MUST. It's amazing how little the board rates him. Cesc and Modric are the best midfielders in the EPL in my own opinion. Sir Alex named Modric the Player of the season. Barton said Nasri/Modric were the two best. We need players like them, excel in being a creative team player.
